Beoksu playing a Flute
Due to the influence of Manpa-style myth, the waves are calmed when the flute is played, and many beoksus are found holding a flute or playing a flute in coastal areas, resulting from the belief that everything will be resolved smoothly.
The Manpa-style myth 萬波息笛
King Sinmun of Silla built and paid tribute to his father, King Munmu, who died and became a sea dragon. And Kim Yu-shin, who became the god of the sky, joined forces to send bamboo to an island in the East Sea. It is said that when the bamboo was cut to make a flute, the enemy's soldiers retreated, the disease healed, and the sea became calm. The story contains the idea of national security, which tried to stabilize the country by integrating the public sentiment of Baekje and Goguryeo, which had been scattered since Silla unified the three countries, and the desire of the Silla people to calm all political unrest and bring peace.
