This Dongjaseung is holding a peach, the symbol of eternal life. Often placed closest to the tomb, dongjaseok figures were believed to comfort the spirit of the deceased and serve them in the afterlife. They are frequently shown holding offerings such as Korean wine, rice cakes, and fruit, or symbolic objects including flowers and spears.
