Dongja carved with Flowers and Sheep

A distinctive feature of this dongjaseok is that it holds various objects

in its hands.
This figure is holds a flower and is carved with a sheep at the lower section, a symbol of auspiciousness.
Holding a flower signifies praying for the tomb owner's rebirth in the Pure Land. Some dongjaseok figures are depicted holding items such as Korean wine or rice cakes, which are often interpreted as objects the deceased favored during their lifetime.
There is a sheep carved underneath the feet, as an additional symbol of good fortune.
